Default Conquest 3.5 X 10 X 40 or Leupold 3.5 X 10 X 50

I'm looking to get a scope for my new Rem 700 6MM Rem.
At the prices that I am looking at, I can get the Leupy in 50mm for about the same as the Conquest in 40mm. I have never had a scope in 50mm, but with the eyes getting older, I'm wondering what I'd gain with a 50mm? Also, I've never owned a Conquest but would sure like to get one if the 40mm vs. 50mm issue is a wash! ??????

I'd get the Conquest in a heart beat... 40 mm objective lens with good glass and coatings is most all a person would ever need. There are some good prices out there and word on the street that some changes are coming. That may mean even better deals. Good luck.

Thanks. The reason the prices are very close is that Ziess seems to have more of a mark-up on their silver/stainless scopes. The best I have found is the 40mm Conquest, except it is in matte blue and I am set on stainless. This adds almost 150.00 to the price, which puts it near the price of the Leupy 50mm stainless. The Leupy's stainless price gap isn't much. I guess as I'm writing this I see what the gap probably is! "Stainless, Silver (color,) Aluminum." Could this be that the Conquest is actually stainless compared to other brands aluminum? I am prepared to spend for "quality" so, if theres no real advantage of a 50mm over a 40mm objective I guess I'll own my first Ziess!

I'm not sure why Zeiss marks up their silver models... they are the same as the matte except for the color (they are not SS BTW). Anyway, check the Samplelist over @ SWFA. You just may find a deal!!! Good luck man.

Conquest 3.5-10x40 will be a good choice. Good luck.

Thanks! The Conquest will be it then. How does their warranty & CS match up?

No CS / warranty concerns with Zeiss! BTW, they will be bringing out (to the USA) the Conquest Duralyt series soon. There are illuminated and non-illuminated versions. Price to be higher than the regular Conquest line, but lower than the Diavari, Varipoint and other alpha models.
