Unhappy Another Banner bites the dust

This story tops off a day that I didn't think would get any worse...but that's another discussion in itself.

Well, it almost got me through the season. I have a Bushnell Banner 3-9X40 'blackpowder' scope on my Optima .50 cal. I've been scared of this scope since the Banner on my .270 called it quits when the reticle broke on it. Instead of getting a new one, for a few extra $ I upgraded to a Trophy XLT that I've only shot a few times.

I'm going out for a late season doe in the morning so I decided to check the zero on my ML this afternoon. I mainly just wanted an excuse to burn some powder, because it's been shooting fine. I normally leave it on 6 power, but I tried to dial it up to 9 to see the distant target. The power adjustment is froze up, and jiggles forwards and back a little bit. Since I don't usually turn it, I'm not sure how long it's been this way. I didn't even fire a round, because even if it hit where it was supposed to I just don't have any faith in it doing it again since there is obviously something wrong with it.

so...

I'm shipping it to Bushnell (the shipping cost is getting me p...ed off-they charged me shipping to send me my last replacement after I paid to send it in) and I will once again upgrade to the Trophy XLT.

I just hope the Trophy XLT's perform better than the Banners. And I hope the deer get close enough tomorrow to hit with my Mossberg!

Sorry to hear that, but the title of your thread says it all.

Even if they stand behind them; they're hard to use when they are in the shop.

why bother dealing with garbage, spend the money on a Leuopld VX-II or VX-III, chances of having a problem is nill, and if you do they will fix it for free for the life of the scope, even if you purchase a use one
