Question Length of Scope for larger caliber guns.

I picked up a Savage 111 .338 and went to install my spare scope but it did not fit into the scope bases. The bases were to far apart for my scope to fit properly into the rings. Do larger caliber rifles require a longer scope? My scope bases are weaver style and the groove for the scope rings are in the middle of the bases so I cant reverse my bases. Any help will appreciated.

Short tubed scopes on longer action rifles often times are problematic. Try some different rings that can be rotated or even extension types. Another option would be to utilize a picatinney type base that has multiple mounting slots.

Agreed, I have a Savage 30-06 and I put a picatiny base and burris tactical rings. That looks sharp and it is rock solid!

Carrt your rifle to a local gun shop and tell them your problem. They should be able to set you up with the right bases and rings to solve your problem.
