Best 4/6-12 X40 or 44 riffle scope for under $250-300...

As stated above, looking for something in the 4 or 6-12 power in either a 40 or 44 view for under $300, but prefer the lower the better. Something that is strong to handle the powerfull bullet. This will be going on my .300 Win Mag. The crappy 4-9X40 Simmons that came on it cant handle the shock and wont stay true.

For big game hunting,I would suggest the Bushnell elite 3200 3x10x40.It is plenty of magnification for big game hunting.

I was gonna say the 3200 or the Nikon Monarch 3-9X40, check out the

I saw some 3x9x40 Bushnell Elites 4200 for $255 or less(I think) on E-Bay a couple of days ago. That is what I would go with in that price range.

The 4200 Elite's are great scopes but... the ER may be a tad short for the hard kickers.

You saying the 4200 isn't up to the .300s kick?

Myself and my hunting partners have used both the 3200s and 4200s on rifles chambered for cartridges including the 338win mag with no problems at all.

On Cabela's it says. About the 4200, "they've been recoil tested to 10,000 rounds of a .375 H&H." Must be pretty good then.

What's the real difference between the 3200 and the 4200?
