I am looking into getting a BSA platinum 8X32. BUT are they good scopes? I want a good one and wont waste my money if they aren't.
Thanks,

It depends on your definition of good. I'm not a fan of them. What is the intended use, and what do you want to spend? There may be alternatives to consider.

I don't know about that particular model but I've got a buddy whom has a ton of guns. Well, not a ton but quite a few. I think around 50 or so. Anyway, he tried BSA scopes and said they were worthless. He said they worked on a .22 fine but that anything with recoil kept breaking them. He didn't like them at all.
the shop that sells them says they have a lifetime warranty? does anyone know about that? is it very limited or is it a good warranty?
thanks for the replies so far

Often the trouble with lifetime warranties from these companies is that you just get another junk scope back to replace the broke junk scope. So in a nutshell, you are still out your money without a good scope. Just something to think about. Now, I have used a BSA red dot on my crossbow, 22 and 22 pistol with success. Even there, there is a fair amount of dot scatter, so, it works, but is less than ideal.
But then again, I looked through a $400 EO Tech and it's light source confused my eye. . .basically it was hard to look at. The BSA didn't do that!
For my $$$, I'd go to another brand that is in the same price range as the BSA's. The BSA scopes are rated about everywhere I have seen at or near the bottom.
Look at a Bushnell Banner of Nikon Pro-Staff. These are better scopes in my opinion and appear to be in about the same price range - $100 or so.
If you can hold off, save up, do so. You can get into some decent scopes at around the $200 - $250 mark including Elite 4200, Leupold Vari-X II, etc.
Almost all scopes out there have a lifetime warranty including Tasco, Simmons, etc so I wouldn't take that as meaning they are quality scopes. I also agree you could probably buy something much better for a similar price.
Ive looked around and read some reviews, and am gonna save a little longer and buy something i will be happy with long term. thanks for the replies!

Frankly, I wouldn't hunt with a BSA scope if they were free. With a busy job and family I don't get to hunt as much as I would like. When the moment of truth arrivesto pull that trigger on an animal the last thing I am willing to tolerate is equipment failure. Cheap scops will fail you eventually. Hunt with open sights until you can save enough money to buy a good reliable riflescop - you will never regret money spent on higher quality optics - trust me.
I don't proclaim myself to be an expert, but 40+ years of hunting has tought me a valuable lesson with respect to cheap equipment. I might scrimp on clothes (exception beingraingear), I don't buy the latest camo, andI drive an old beat-up Toyota 4X4 when everybody else hasa new truck. I have never bought a new rifle (all used but only after I verify they will shoot) and my shotguns are all 20+ years old. Where I spend money is on quality optics because scopes (mounts and rings included)and binoculars can and will make the difference between success and failure.
Good luck
