Default Leupold VX-II 3x9-50 mounts

Looking to get everyones opinion on what mounts to use to put a VX-II 3x9-50 on my Remington 700 7mm. I've been told that I will need to use the Leupold mounts. I'd like to keep them under $40

I have Millet rings and bases on that exact scope for the past 15 yrs, they have beenawesome. Leupold are good for sure. Just make sure you get the right height for the gun/scope you have.

IMO the only solid mounting system for under $40 is the steel Weaver mounting system. The Waver system is every bit as strong as the more expensive mounts. You just give up adjustability. Spend a little more and use a Warne one piece base with Weaver rings. That will work the best for the best price. Tom.

How much we talking here on what I should spend?
I can spend a little more if need be.

Do you need Rings or Rings and a Base? I like Burris solid steel rings, they work on weaver style bases..The rings will run around $40. to $50. I would use a one piece mount not a two piece. OpticsPlanet.com is a good place to look.Don't go cheap on the mounting of that nice scope.
