Default Shotgun Scope

I am looking for a shotgun/muzzle loader scope that has a nickle or silver finish. Looking around the price range of anything under $100. Any ideas where i might find one

I noticed swfa has pentax fixed 4x scopes for about 90$. I don't know if they come in silver or not however, nor do I have much experience with pentax scopes. www.swfa.com www.riflescopes.com .

You might want to spend a little more money up front and get a decent shotgun scope, the recoil on a slug gun will destroy the cheaper scopes quickly. I learned my lesson, $350 and three scopes later I bought a Nikon Slughunter and couldn't be happier. Good luck on your purchase.

Nikon Prostaff 2-7x 32mm shotgun scope. Great glass for the money, very compact, good eye relief, and parallax set at 75 yards. All for about $113.00.

It doesn't pay to go cheap on anything that is to be relyed on.
It equals buying it, throwing in the trash can and buying again.
Believe me! I've done it.

I bought a cheap Cabela's branded scope and the heavy recoil from sabot 12 gauge loads always messes with the zero. I would recommend spending a little bit more money on the shotgun optics. I know I wish I had.

The problem is that most shotguns kick hard when shooting slugs and muzzleloaders, depending on how powerful the load, kick pretty good too. I wouldn't feel confident thata $100.00 scope holding zero for very long, but that's just me.

I have had good luck buying new or slightly used scopes off ebay. The list below are some of my more recent purchases that I think are reliable and represent good values in optics. They can all be had for less than $200.00 new or much less than that used:

Burris Fullfield II 3X9, ballistic plex reticle, bought used for $110.00
Nikon Buckmaster 3X9X40, plex reticle, used for $125.00
Bushnell Elite 3200 4X12, ballistic reticle,new for $220.00 (retails for about $329.00)
Burris Fullfield II 3X9, ballistic plex reticle, new $165.00

Now that I think about it, I have a Bushnell Trophy 1.75X4 with a circle-X reticle that I put on a hard kicking turkey gun (Mossburg 835) and it has held zero for 2 seasons (about15-20 shots includingzeroing the scope). Obviously that isn't a lot of shots to judge the reliability of the scope but it has given me good service so far. The optics are pretty darn good for that scope which cost less than $100.00. It has a one-piece tube and nitrogen purged, but the glass is only multicoated (not fully multicoated). If it ever fails me I'll likely replace it with a Leupold or Nikon Monarch.

One more thing - the silver scopes typically are $20-40 more expensive than glossy or matte black, so you may be hard pressed to find one under $100.00.

Good luck
