My Rem 700 mtn wears a Burris Fullfield II 3x9-40. Nikon has some nice scopes too. I just recieved a Nikon Prostaff 2x7-32 that is nice and compact, so compact that it is too short to fit on the 375 H&H I intended to install it on.

Hi Muzzy, I have a Rem. 700 Mt. Rifle and have a nice light wt. Leupold 2-7x33 riflescope on mine and like it a lot. It seems almost perfect for this rifle. Leupold seems to have lighter wt. scopes. This is 30/06 and this scope has been on itfor about 17 yrs. with no problem.
Regards,Steve

I've got a 700 Mtn Rifle in 7x57, that wears a Vortex Viper 2-7x32. That scope looks just about perfect perched atop that rifle, & the magnification matches the capabilities of the cartridge quite well. I feel one would have to spend far more $$$ to get appreciably better glass than this. As a bonus the Salesman's Sample price shown here is $100 less than your budget: http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/vortex.pl?page=vortexviper2-7x32

Also, if most of your shots are < 150 yards, would you consider a really good fixed 4x? You'll spend less than the $350, & and still have plenty of scope for what this type of hunting. Here's one suggestion: http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/zeiss.pl?page=521405. This is an incredible deal for glass of this quality.

Disclaimer: I only showed the links to camerlandny because their prices are always competitive, and very, veryfrequently the lowest to be found. I have also found, through multiple purchases, that their service is exemplary.
