Default Bases don't fit

Any suggestions?? I was out in the shop mounting the Nikon Monarch I had bought for my Savage 114 American Classic 300wm and the mounted rings are too far apart to allow clearance of the power adjustment knob and the front bell of the scope I bought the Burris TU-2 piece Universal bases #410246 that the books said to buy for my gun but the rings are too far apart to allow clearance in between them for the Nikon Monarch scope. I called Burris but of course the tech guys were gone now until Monday morning. Any ideas? Anyone know what Burris bases I need for this gun since it is evident the 410246 are not going to work?

universal bases? I know leupold makes specific bases by gun/manufacturer, I think if your's dont work you're gonna need to get some gun/model specific bases, leupold, talley.....

The Burris 410246 are suppose to be for the Savage I have but they evidently aren't.

get a weaver base and a set of weaver offset rings and set them offset towards the other ring, that way you can mount a short tubed scope on the rifle, lots of guys have the same problem with LA rem's and short scopes.
Burris may make offset rings but I'm not sure.

Burris makes an extention ring also that is offset for that same purpose but I am not sure it comes in the Signature models which is what I really like.

I'dgo back to the shop I bought the mounts from and let them pick out what is necessary. Carry the rifle, scope and mounts with you.
