Default Scope for Tikka T3 243 cal.

I just purchased a TikkaT3 light / stainlessin 243 cal. I took the scope from my 22 mag and mounted iton the T3. Its a Bushnell Banner 3x9. This scope is okay for 100 yards, but I would like to have something to bring my target in closer and more clear. If possible, I would like to keep the price under $300. 200 yards is probably the max. distance I'll ever shoot. Any suggestions?

I too was just on the quest for a scope, I wound up with a Nikon Monarch. There was a thread on here a couple days ago about the Nikon Buckmasters and through cabellas you can get one of those for under 300 and in the other thread they said it was a real good scope. The Monarchs are good scopes, so I am sure the buckmasters are good as well.

I bought the same scope Oilpatch did, now if Cabelas will ever get the gun in so i can mount it. It was a Monarch also. I have a couple of Leupis and this is the first Nikon so i have no experience yet on which one i prefer.

There are lots of good scopes out there. The Nikon mentioned is a good choice. Another one I'd recommend is a Sightron SII. Others are Burris Fullfield II and Bushnell Elite 3200. Compare features such as eye relief, weight, exit pupil etc. A 3-9 X 40 is a good standard. Even a 2.5-8 X 36 (or similar) would look good on that Tikka. Good luck.

See if you can find one of the Bushnell Elite 4200 3x9x40's for about $270. Great scope. The Monarch is also a nice scope.

Check out ebay 42003x9x40's listed for 239 - 249.99 (buy it now). Excellent price for a good scope...large step up from the banner

I have a couple of lightweight rifles, and a couple more LW projects on the way. I have Leupold 2-7x's, 2.5-8x's and 3.5-10x's on them now, and I like them quite a bit. For the next one, I am leaning towards a Leupold FX-III 6x42mm. A friend has a couple, and I think they're a great scope for a lightweight hunting rifle.

For shots in the range you mentioned, you certainly don't need a 6.5-20 X 50. Good grief. However, the Conquests are great, but more than your $300 budget. The best glass in that range is the Elite 4200 3-9 X 40. It's a keeper.
