Default 4X15 scope for my air rifle...

Hello, I am a newbie so bear with me...
I bought a daisy proline 953s (953 with a 4X15 scope) to target practice.
How come the scope make it seem like what i am aiming at is smaller than it appears to the naked eye?

also, when i change the elevation screw, it doesnt do anything...
like i made the screw go in as deep as possible but i still shoot 2 inches below my target. and this does not really change when i turn it in anyway...
please help me

That is an incredibly cheap and cheesy basic scope. I'm not surprised it looks like crap and won't function correctly.

You would be better off using open sights than that thing.

If you want a scope go to walmart or wherever and get a cheap .22 simmons scope or something with one inch tube and mounts. You can get them for 25-50 bucks. It will be 5 times better than what you have. But still cheap though.

If you get a new scope make sure it is designed for an air rifle. Air rifles have what is called reverse recoil that believe it or not can tear up even the best rifle scopes. Air rifle scopes are also designed with lower parallax focus settings than standard rifle scopes. I have a RWS 34 air rifle in .22 caliber and mounted a Center Point 3-9x 32mm scope on it. I consistantly get head shots on little red squirrels at 30 yards. I paid about $60.00 for it and it's a very nice scope. See attached link.

Only spring airs are like this though, you know the ones that break at the barrel or have a side cock lever. The regular pnuematic guns like the daisy and crossman pumps don't have any felt recoil.

A high power spring air will destroy a cheap scope though, your best getting one with a etched reticle for those types of guns.
