Default Varmint /Target Scopes

Who makes a good Scope with a target dot? Looking at 16-24 magnification and 40-50 objective lens. Would like to spend no more than $500. Its going on a Savage model 12 BVSS. What are your thoughts on Sightron scopes?

I"™m not sure about Sightron scopes but I have the Weaver Grand Slam 6-20 x 40 mm and find this is an excellent scope with the target dot...

I suggest a Nikon Buckmaster variable. I have shot Prairie dogs out to 700 meters with one. I say that qualifies as varmint shooting..

I have a couple of Weaver Classics in 4-16 and 6-24, I'm very happy with them. Great scopes with lifetime warranty and priced reasonably.

Mueller has some as well. I recently got a tactical version and am happy with it, but really haven't used it much. Others seem to think they are decent scopes for the money. Great service from the guy that owns the company if you ever have problems from what I understand.
