What do you think guys? I have a budget of about $1000, but no more and preferably less. I was looking at the Loopy VX-L's, Zeiss Conquest, and the Nikon Monarchs. I would like it to be at least 14X on the highest setting. I will most likely set it up with some type of BDC too.
Thanks

A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
Check out SWFA they still have some of the Nikon Monarch's (last years model) on sale. Best bargain on the market. The eye relief on the Loopy's are really nice but so is the price tag. On a 243 AI, it's not a heavy recoiling gun so I don't think you'll really need the extra eye relief.

heck jeep 1K will get you any you've mentioned, last scope I bought was a loopy mark4, 6.5x20x50, M1, TMR and it was 930.00 including shipping.
You want to dial? how far you plan on using this rig to? The BDC's are available from kenton industies for about any scope made. however, beyond 700 yds the current conditions hafta be figured in, so you practicly need some sort of ballistic computer to carry with you, I run a PDA with exbal, or different BDC knobs for different conditions (this is why I dial)
RR
Thats a good deal for the Mark4, where did you get it at? I will probably use it to about 5-600 yards with the knobs on coyotes and stuff. 300 yards max on deer. I'll check out Kenton Industries.
Thanks

Just recently picked up my 5th Mark IV, a 4.5x14x50 M1 Illuminated TMR and stuck it on a FN A1.It's makes a great combination for the 308.For precision work dialing in and knowing your load is the only way to go.
The factory bdc's are good but are made for general cartidge ballistics,it may be close for your particular load or may not, you are going to have to shoot at various ranges to see no matter what.
I have been messing around with the Nikon5.5x16.5 BDC reticle on a Cooper 243 Win and out to 500 yards it works quite well, the 1st circle is on at 300 while I skip the second and use the third circle for 500 yards, which prints groups 3 inches low.I picked up 2 new modelNikon 5x20x42 BDC's for future projects. Good luck on your new rifle, I just may have to knock the dust off my 6mmx284 now that I think of it.

It will be custom BDC's knobs, not a standard reticle. I am going to have to go to a store and check them out in person. That new Monarch looks tempting.
