Default VX-1 4x12,40mm w/Long Range Duplex or ....

Hey guys I have a question on Leupold scopes. I was wondering which would be a better scope for the Savage 111 .204 Ruger. I was looking at the VX-1 4x12,40mm w/Long Range Duplex or would the VX-2 3x9,40mm be a better choice for this caliber??? Should I stay away from the Long Range Duplex?? I am somewhat of a novice when it comes to scopes so any help would be appreciated! This gun is used for Predator/Varmit only!

Thanks

Joe b!

Not sure about the long range duplex, but at about $300 for the VX-I you can buy a better quality scope cheaper.

I went with the VX-II 3x9 40mm, mounted and bore sighted for 299.00 from Sportsmans Warehouse! This is a big step up from the 3x9 Nikon Prostaff I had on the gun! Looking forward to getting it back on the range then in the woods after the Coyote!

Can you afford a vari x 3? There's a world of difference between them. I have had experience with weaver v16 and reccomend it highly. It goes from 4x-16x-42mm and has great optics and relibable adjustments and goes for about 240.00

The vari X III hasn't been made for a few years. There is not a great difference between the VXII and the VXIII other than price. In fact for the price of a VXIII you can buy a Zeiss conquest and have even better optics.
