Default understanding new scope

I do not have a lot of experience with scopes. I am bore sighting a new scope, Bushnell Banner on my Muzzle Loader. I have noticed that to raise the cross hairs to the target, I am turning the dial to the left, opposite of the direction that is indicated on the dial, which says that I am supposed to turn the dial to the right for up.
Is this correct or is there something wrong?.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Default RE: understanding new scope

yes thats right, the crosshairs move opposite. say your sighting in, your shot hits low, when you turn the dial up, this actually moves the reticle down, then on the next shot, since the crosshairs moved down slightly to place reticle on the target you must raise the rifle therefore bringing point of impact up.
