Default Shotgun vs. Rifle

Hello, I was just curious to the differences of there between a"shotgun" scope and a "rifle" scope. I'm looking for a short range scope for my brush gun, and I see the scopes saying 1-4x and I get excited, but then it says Shogun on them [&:]Is there any reason I can't use one on a rifle? Thanks,

Cory

Cory, I like a longer Eye Relief Scopewhen mounting on a shotgun.

I think generally if there is a difference in the shotgun models it a heavier reticle and wider field of view (sometimes at the expence of edge distortion. For a brush rifle this sounds perfect to me.

There's no reason at all you can't interchange them.

[align=left]Simmons' shotgun scopes are specifically designed for turkey hunters and whitetail slug hunters who want that extra edge. They have an extra long eye relief especially for the shotgun user. To facilitate accurate shots at shorter distances, these scopes are adjusted parallax-free at 50 yards. All have full windage and elevation adjustments in 1/2 MOA calibration. They will accommodate most shotgun mounting systems.

Simmons' new ProDiamondâ„¢ reticle is perfect for all uses, including shotguns and black-powder rifles. The crosshair within the diamond defines your exact shot. Available in models 7789D, 7790D, and 7791D.

A scope that is advertised for shotgun will work on a rifle, no doubt. Others are right with their advice.

I think you will usually find that the shotgun scopes have less magnification. They will be in the 1.5-4x range whereas rifle scopes will often have much higher magnifications.
