Default Fatshafts in hunter class??

My question is why does the IBO allow the use of fat shafts and X cutters in hunter class but not blazers?? I am not knocking the guys who do use them, but this weekend at the worlds i was shooting the throphy shoot in hunters class and i saw more guys shooting fat shafts than not?? If it is to be truly a Hunters class (guys like me using their hunting bows) why are there not any rules on arrow dia???

I was hunting with 2412's back in the early 90's.......they are just as fat as any fat shaft out there.

Rick James: I hunt with Blazer Vanes, 6 pins, and a stabilizer kicking off the side to counter the sight weight and they do not allow that in the IBO Hunter Class.

Honestly, why complain about the rules and equipment classifications? There is no way they are gonna make everyone happy, they have to drawa line somewhere. Some are gonna complain thattoo much is allowed, some are gonna complain that not enough is allowed. If you don't like it then don't play........just my opinion.

I know people that hunt with a copper john ants that has a lens on it too. Might as well make that legal too then for HC. See what I mean? If you guys want to use all sorts of equipment that isn't allowed, then step up a class or two!! Honestly, the worst thing that can happen is that you pull yourself out of your comfort zone and become a better archer.....

I shoot in MBO... and in the past MBR. The only classes I can step up to are Semi-Pro, and not going there yet. Not concerned about the Hunter Class equipment but I believe the "sclamp" has a legitimate question and it should get answered properly.

I think the problem is that where do you draw the line... Since I don't know anyone that shoots Fatboys as a hunting arrow, but I know a few that shoot aluminum shafts that have thesame diameter as a FBfor hunting.

Should there be restrictions on the diameter be different for carbon and aluminum? Should rules be changed to allow Blazer type vanes on arrows? Since most hunters are using them?

I would hate to be the helps decided these rules, as you will never make everyone happy? But I do think they need to be updated to help reflect current changes in the Archery world.

I guess my point is that i dont understand the reasoning for the rule. I know alot of people the use blazers for hunting, i dont think i have heard of anyone using fatshafts for hunting. My understaning was that hunter class was to be the classfor theaverage bow hunter. If the limit vane size why not arrow size??

If memory serves me correctly, back in the old days (1980's) the hunter class was developed for those who wanted to shoot tournaments but didn't want to play the speed games but wanted a class foroff the shelf hunting equipmentso the hunter class came to be. today the H.C. is loaded with shooters who have stepped down from other classes (possibly because theycan hit a flea in the eye at 35 yds. but can't hit the woods at anything longer than that) and they brought thier equipment with them only having to subtract a pin or 2 and putting on longer vanes and the fat shafts are used for the same reason they are used in other classes. If hunters are using fat shafts for hunting (I do, G.T. 22's) then they should be allowed in the class. As for not allowing blazers, I don't know the reasoning behind the rule, but where do you set the rule if blazers are allowed, 1", 1.5", 2" and lets saythe 2" blazers were allowed how long would it take beforeshooters start to complain that they can't use shorter ones.Maybe Ken or some of the other board members could and should weigh in on this, but this question has been asked numerous time in the past with out thier response.

Going from 4" vanes to short blazers, what does it get you ?, only a few things, here a few I can say:
Maybe a few FPS faster, the chance to say I USE BLAZERS,I saved money, posting a question on how to make them stick(which there are ways),but are they more accurate?, doubt it. JUST MY OPINION.
I think you would be more accurate with 4" at short range, would stabilize the arrow quicker.
I also see no reason to stop someone from using them if they want in the hunter class or from using fat shafts. I shot in the IBO World at Anderson & seen quite a bit of guys using 4" spinwing vanes, do they have a advantage ?, YES, if they practice all year, do there homework & are great archers they can win, thats where its at no mater what arrows or vanes you are using.
I perfer 4" FFP hunter vanemyself, tuff & will take a pounding all year, but expensive.
