I have a couple of friends who are married and are airline pilots and they lived and worked in Hawaii for a few years working for a regional airline company. Very high cost of living and after you see the beauty of the beaches and tourist traps reality fades in and it isn't all that nice a place to live according to them. High crime rate especially for breakins etc. They couldn't wait to get back to the lower 48. Only passing on what they said.

So you're gonna just take your toys and go home.....DD runs home screaming.......Mommy.........They're not playing fair..........lol......Just kidding DD. I've worked the same job since 1973 and I've just about had my fill. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Frank thanks old buddy ...I have a good friend who lives in St. Thomas and he has givin me the same advice about living there ....very small island and once the illusion of paradise has faded away it becomes pretty boring and you have to make your own fun ...its highly unlikely that me and Monica would end up in Hi. but it is flattering that they would want an old fart like me ...and W.V. the reason I am "running" away from this dealer is ........because I CAN LOL ...I know you were just pulling ole dd's chain but to be serious at this stage in my life I don't HAVE to do anything and I'm sure not going to do something where Im not appreciated and that I don't find challanging and fun ...when I got to this store in October of 06 they had sold a total of 475 bikes that year (06) ...in 07 my first full year we increased to 675 ..in 08 it went up to 803 and last year even with a very bad economy and the loss of the entire month of February due to the worst ice storm in the countrys history (without power for 14 days) we still sold 876 bikes in a town of 27000 people ...I think the proof is in the puddin ...

Sounds like you have a lot to bring to the table and any dealership would be fortunate to have you. Good luck with the search Scott.

I can give you some advice. I too am an Alabama boy. I grew up there.

I lived in Hawaii on Oahu for 6 years. It was the most miserable 6 years of my life. Typical out doors activities are limited and expensive. Hunting is pretty much limited to Hog, ferrel goats, and very few turkeys. Fishing is limited to VERY expensive salt water fishing or ONE fresh water lake there on Oahu that is VERY over fished. It is the most racist place I have ever lived or been to. There is a pretty high crime rate as well. 9 out of every 10 men arrested are high on Meth at the time of arrest. My house and vehicle were broken into twice while there. I won't even mention the housing market. DO LOTS OF RESEARCH ON THE HOUSING MARKET BEFORE YOU MAKE THE DECISION TO MOVE TO HAWAII!

I worked for a company based in Gaithersburg, MD and had to make many trips there over a 4 year period. That area is a nightmare as well. The traffic is absolutely horrible. I could walk the mile from hotel to work twice as fast as I could drive it.

This is just my two cents on some of the areas you mentioned with which I have experience.

Go west young man. Sounds like you are fortunate enough to have plenty of options, thats great, I would parlay those options into a western paradise, hunting, fishing, and some of the best cycle riding in the nation.
