I bought and installed a K&N air filter for my truck yesterday and have to say I am truely impressed with it already, they say it will add 5-10 HP, increase throttle response and increase fuel mileage by 1 mpg. Well my truck was putting out 300 HP before this and I figured I would not notice any difference on my drive in this morning, man I was wrong, I am not sure if it was the extra ponies or the throttle response, but it sure ran a lot better coming in this morning and it was running great before. Man I am looking forward to the end of the month, I get the body work done on my truck and I am having them throw a Flowmaster muffler on which should add about another 40 HP and get me 2 more miles to the gallon. Oh yea and Flowmasters make it sound SWEEEEEET. The wife is not real happy about it though, she says I will wake the neighbors up when I leave for work! Heck I can just be thier alarm clock.

mdbo I bought the air filter at Bigfoots which is a truck/speed shop in Fredericksburk for $48, which sounds like a lot, but it is washable and reuseable, they are garaunteed for 1 million miles. You run them for 50,000 miles then buy a recharge kit which comes with the cleaner and oil to recharge the filter. It more than pays for itself in fuel savings.

yea, only problem i have is my truck already eats up some gas with the big tires and plus all the lift on it.. but it does help with hp goin thru thick mudd and dirt..<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
I have had a K&N filter on my '94 Ranger for about 5 years. Combined with the Walker Dynomax muffler my engine breaths easier and performs better. I also have a K&N in my ATV it it works great.

We went through this K&N stuff before on here.
Before you start counting HP remember this is at WOT,wide open throttle. How often are you at WOT. If it helps mileage at all you had other problems before, such as a restriction, dirty filter etc.
Other than the fact that they can be used over, if you want to take the time to wash and re-oil them. They really don't give much to the average driver.
On the Dyno an AC348 flows only 10% less at WOT than a K&N for the same vehicle. 10% les flow does not equate to 10% less HP.
To each his own but I can buy a lot of AC filters for the price of one K&N and I don't have to fuss with them. Sure they got a million mile warrantee, try to collect.
The only place we use K&N filters is on circle track cars that are at WOT most of the time. Some diesel pick-ups may respond to them but then they have such high draw on the intake, what else are they drawing into the engine with this non factory filter.
