I bow hunt turkey's
i never used a blind, only bought one for this season, because i would like to take a nap,
only hard part with bow hunting turkeys is range,
20 yds is basically my limit with a bow,
if your a good shot with the bow, and turks come in close not much different,
and if your aiming for neck/head thats a very small target with the bow,

if you like to hunt, go with the bow,
if you need to hunt for food, use a gun,

problem with chest or side , is you'll probably clip a wing,
and injure the bird,
i usually shoot for low neck/throat,
also depends on my line on the bird,
like to be a little higher and comedown through the neck into the body

I bowhunt Turkeys also. I recently started using a pop-up blind. They are awesome for bow hunting thunder chickens. you don't have to worry about them seeing you draw. Which I always found to be the toughest part bowhunting turkeys. They don't seem to mind this new camo'd blind setup, and pay little attention to it. My advice is just get one large enough you can sit in with a small stool, and draw w/o hitting a side wall, and windows on at least 3 sides. Ones like the outhouse blinds are too small for drawing a bow. I use the Ameristep Dog house blind. Also be sure to practice shooting from inside the blind, as your sight picture, and actual opening are a little different. Far as shots the best place on a turkey is right at his chest at the top of the beard, and at the rear right up their butts. That way you hit all vitals, and they don't go far. I've taken side shots, but you have to be sure of your setup. You don't want arrow pass throughs with turkeys. Its best to keep the arrow in the bird, to prevent fly off. I use NAP Gobbler Getter broadheads. Its the only time I can say a mechanical head serves a good purpose. They have a blunt head to slow penetration. There's also small game add on heads you can attach to the top of your regular broadheads. You also don't need alot of heavy poundage on your bow for turkeys. 50-55lbs is plenty. Its very challenging, and alot of fun.

If you want to hunt turkeys in the Fall in NH, leave your gun behind because it's archery only.
Good Luck with your bow this season...

Here is one i just shot with a bow out of a Ameristep blind in North Carolina. It was even raining, but he still gobbled four times on roost and flew down and attacked my decoy. shot him at 20yards. Darton Magnum Extreme with 100 grain muzzy four blade.
