Well guys, the birds have been gobbling around this part of PA for a week or two now, but today was the breaking point. The birds have been pretty quiet, still able to hear a couple gobbles in the evenings........ tonight on the other hand...... the gobblers went absolutely nuts. I havn't ever heard turkeys let loose like this! I was sitting at my computer with my window open and 4 different birds were sounding off in my woods (roosting withing 20 yards of my back yard). They were roosted probablly 30 yards from a pond with lots of peeper frogs in it and the birds were gobbling to the peepers! They were gobbling at cars, dogs barking, planes, geese, hand claps, whistles, ect.. anything that they heard made them gobble! I am gonna head out tommorow morning with my digital camera and see if I can get pics. I was able to get pics of one bird today but they weren't very good as I didn't have my tripod and he was behind brush. He appeared to be a double-bearded bird with about a 6" and a 3" beard..... nothing huge but definetly a cool bird to see!

The stock ones left loose are running all around my home and yard. The dumb things were out eating in the food plot I just planted in my yard. had to put up strings and orange ribbon to wave in the air to keep them away. Hope they get lost. I dont hunt turkey.
I hear ya Frank. Alot of guys I talk to who hunt up north aren't hearing many, but down here in Indiana they are going crazy! I have a ground blind set-up in my woods right behind my food plot and I will be sitting in it tonight with my digital camera in hand hoping to get a good pic of these birds! I was out this morning with the digital camera but they didn't walk past me! There were actually 5 gobblers in my woods this morning! I set up my game cams today on a "turkey trail" and hope to get some pics of these toms!

did u get any pics yet? i cant wait to get out this weekend in the morning and hear a gobble.. i found a nice spot the other night where the birds are working..
The birds are kicking up a fuss here in Armstrong Co. too. I haven't had the chance to see the birds but I've certainly heard them. And they are scratching up the ground that it looks like a whole flock of them has been coming thru. I know there are tons of them out there because I did see them here and there over the winter.
I might try to get out there with my camera today. Better dust off the game cam too....
