The first day that the NEW system was suppsoed to be up and running I called in and it was down....this continued for the next 3 weeks. I finally get through (after holding for 2 hrs) and want to order a LIFETIME license, they tell me to call back after Sept 9th, because the LIFETIME permits are not in the system yet. So I wait another 3 days and call back on Sept. 11th. After holding for another hour, a woman finally picks up and informs me that I can't purchase a LIFETIME lisence through them, but that I have to call and get it from the DEC HQ in Albany.
So I call Albany....they inform me that I have to send them the forms through the mail, that they do not do LIFETIME licenses over the phone. So after printing out the forms and information pages, it states in small print to allow for 4-6 weeks for Delivery. That being said, I probably will not get my stuff in time for opening of the bow season, and I might get shut out of my DMPs althogether!!!!
Catskill. If I were you I would contact your nearest DEC officer and ask for his advice. I am not sure but I would expect them to give some sort of temp license. I think that the new system has potential, but in my mind they were a bit hasty in its implementation. IT would be borderline negligence for them to impact your hunting season with what to me seems like an outrageous amount of time for processing. I think they have some work to do.
