Default Politics of hunting in PA

We have alot of concerns in PA regarding hunting.
1-falling number of hunters
In these changing times I don't see anything bucking this trend
2-deer management
There are definately some problems here,the system needs changed.DCNR and penn state are both doing counts and studies so hopefully this is a step in the right direction.I think the infared count in 2g will shed some light on what hunters are reporting.
3-PGC's shortfall in the budget
Hopefully get back on track with the timbering program.We also need to fight against the ultra environmentalists in their agenda to stop timbering.Lots of pressure from these people.
I personally would accept a license increase because I still think hunting in PA is a good deal.But only if they get back and stay on track with their revenues from timber.We get the best of two worlds with this.Better habitat and of course monies generated.
4-USP-While I agree with some things you guys are saying about deer management I also don't understand why you are against everything the PGC does?This agency is our best bet for the future of hunting.The option is the DCNR,Rendell,and his flower sniffing supporters.Look no farther then NJ.Give them credit where credit is due and not fight them in every step they take.

I've long said the PGC is better than nothing BUT they need to regain the trust of the very people whom finacially support them. Was a time that being a Pa sportsman meant your fought for an trusted in the PGC. In that era they were fiscally responsible, had a WCO in EVERY county fulltime.
Today sadly they've lost the faith of the MAJORITY of sportsmen/women in the state. Many Legislators, even the head of their overseeing committee Bruce Smith won't consider a lisc. increase until the PGC sorts itself thru the deer management program. Because of so many complaints from the majority of hunters.
The PGC needs to go back to basics, one of the basics is deer hunters want to see deer and choose quanity over quality!

You seem to have your stats a bit turned around ulysses. The most recent independent survey on PA's hunters attitudes, done less than a year ago by Responsive Management, shows overwhelming support for both deer hunting and the PGC in general.

The PGC does need some attitude adjustment here and there, they always have IMHO.

USP, however is NOT the organization we want to represnt us with the PGC. They have proven to be nothing more than unyeilding obstructionists since day one. It's their way or the highway and that tactic simply isn't going to work.

we have game and habitat management problems that need solved and USP refuses to listen to any legitimate science. The PGC has done less than a stellar job so far in correcting things but this is a daunting task with no clear solutions. They have, out of necessity had to venture into uncharted waters. They need our considered, watchful support (note that I didn't say blind faith). They DONT need lawsuits and sabotage.

Ruffed- 999,100 hunters is a majority in my book, that's the exact number that weren't polled as to whom or what they support
