Default PGC must slash $3,000,000 by June 30

Rep. Bruce smith head of the House Game & Fisheries committee says," I was shocked to learn of their financial situation", Imagine that the PGC waited till Feb1,2006 to report they are not manageing their finances correctly.
Vern Ross hoped to see a lisc, increase but was told by Smith it isn't going to happen. Smith said, " A large number of complaints from deer hunters ...makes it difficult at this time" he went on to state "the commissioners need to decide where they are going with their deer management before legislators make up their minds to support a rate hike of lisc. fees"
$1.6 million of the shortfall is payroll and benefit costs...hmmmm seems to many any company operating on a budget would be wise enough to operate within that budget. Especially when a planned computer system upgraded personnel expenses by $900,000
***Here's a good one while the pGC operated on a $68,000,000 budget 47 vacant positions remain unfilled 10 of them are districts with NO FULLTIME WCO to enforce game laws.hmmm isn't enforceing gamelaws a pretty big item for the PGC????
Ross continues to say timber revenue is also a problem," .....logging is not done to make money" hmmm, seems to the MAJORITY of sportsmen/women it should be. Timber is BIG $$$$. What Ross isn't saying is that it is orgs.such as Audubon that his commissioners gave access to Gamelands that are doing their best to STOP ALL LOGGING on Gamelandst "....is not in line with the beauty we hikers enjoy..." Robert Schilman Audubon Society Hawk Mtn Sanc. 10/04
*** Support the USP ask the questions DEMAND the answers*******
KEEP writing your Reps. tell them you will not support an increase on any fees the PGC requests until them have a plan to become an stay financialy responsible, and manage the deer herd for the MAJORITY of sportsmen/women that pay the bills.

You're only posting part of the story. When I get time I'll post the rest of it. I read this about this a couple weeks ago. Typicaly USP propaganda tactics.
