Default WEST VIRGINIA 2005 Proposals

DONT LET THE DNR BULLS--T YOU!

Are they really cutting back on ANTLERLESS (Does) Deer or are they?

As for the "NEW" regulations coming out soon........it's more of the same stuff, just re-arranged and given a coat of paint.

Deer are still being prostituted by the DNR, just like the last constituents did.

The DNR is only concerned about keeping enough deer around to keep folks buying licenses.......I'm sorry, this "NEW" DNR is just as corrupt as the last.

I suspect a little "Smoke & Mirrors" action is going on with the "New and Improved" brand of ANTLERLESS deer hunting that is proposed.

Unless I'm reading the "New" changes wrong, hunters will STILL be allowed to kill 5 DOES with a Bow and Muzzleloader in the (13) CLOSED COUNTIES, and (6) DOES with a Bow and Muzzleloader in RESTRICTED COUNTIES and (7) DOES with a Bow, Muzzleloader & Rifle in OTHER COUNTIES.

These "New Limits" seem only to apply to the "ANTLERLESS SEASON"
In the ARCHERY, RIFLE & MUZZLELOADER seasons......THE LIMITS ARE NOT REDUCED! In fact, with additional MUZZLELOADER STAMP, the states season limit on deer will now be raised to 10 DEER INSTEAD OF LAST YEARS 9!

The use of RIFLES to kill "Antlerless Deer" has been modestly changed (ALOT OF THE COUNTIES WERE ALREADY CLOSED OR RESTRICTED), and a "BUCK LIMIT" will now be in effect.
That means a hunters "NEW STATE LIMIT" is now (3) BUCKS & (7) DOES.

Even though it appears the state is cutting back, you can still take a good many does with a bow or muzzleloader.
I think if they (DNR) were as serious as they sound, they would put a LIMIT ON DOES, PERIOD, regardless of season!

I don't think us whom are complaining about "NO DEER" are going to be satisfied with these "MINOR CHANGES"!

What happened ?... I thought everyone touted the "New" DNR chief as the best thing since sliced bread? Only goes to show how corrupt the Depatment and Legislature REALLY are. as a Life-Long resident/hunter, I will surmise that the State has NO intention on listening to it's people...only the dead presidents. Ed Hamrick did an EXCELLENT job, and soon that fact will be re-enforced by the POOR job of the New administration.......Time has ALREADY told.

I don't know where you hunted the last couple of years but apparently not in West Virginia or you own your own land and must be killing many doe. The hunting in WV has been horrible due to the slaughtering of antlerless deer.
Many people/hunters that I have came into contact think the "New" management is just as corrupt as the previous.

Ed did a fine job...it wasn't the doe kill that hurt this state.... it was a combination of many things, altho overkilling does isn't smart management if you're concerned about the herd. I know for a fact that less than 10% of the deer killed around camps near ours were checked. do the math...and this is the norm from what I see. Most are NOT from WVa, but butcher and haul the meat home in coolers, tied in the back with the 4 wheeler. OUTLAWS are doin' more damage than Doe kills. But noone seems to care.... not even the game wardens...( 1 lives right in the heart of what I see and NOONE is arrested).
Blame the RIGHT party, Bro......

When it comes to deer numbers I can only tell you this. I hunt in Putnam County and in my opinion we still have way to many deer. I took a short drive this evening and saw 70 plus deer. I counted 30 within a couple miles of each other. I also took a walk out on a ridge where I hunt and saw 6 deer and we took 4 does and 2 bucks off that same ridge last season. I've heard that some of the traditional deer hunting counties had real low numbers but I havent seen the harvest numbers yet. I read somewhere that the kill was about 14% lower than last year. Does anyone know if that information is available?

Don't blame me, I voted for Lloyd Jackson. Seriously, I agree the DNR'S first priority is to raise money for support through license sales. The main problem, as I see it, is not bag limits, but where the deer are hunted. The problem with surplus deer is because large private land holders do not allow hunting but do get crop damage permits. I'm a retired Trooper and I can tell you most auto deer kills were between tracts of posted private land. I believe that the DNR should enact a tresspass fee system with their permits, no hunting, no damage money. Also the same bag limits apply to public land as private land, so most of the deer are being killed on public land which defeats the purpose of the more liberal deer bag limits.

WELCOME, Super Troop !! I agree with your ideas...so why can't the State fix it?
