Default Another PA season has come and gone!

Well another PA season has come and gone , many changes have been made , for both the good and worse . The snow didnt come til after seasons end , which blew , and it was way too hott in archery to even think of catching the full rut.

Through it all i managed to drag out 5 this season , a new personal high , i helped out my friend and his family who sint doing that well by giving them some meat ...

Managed to poull out the 5th the last friday , shot it with teh 22-250 , and let me tell you , with 55 grain ballistic tips , that gun is no joke at all , dropped my deer in its tracks with it , shot it in the head , and the bullet didnt stop until ripping through the heart , followed the spine al the way down into the chest cavity ( the deer was facing straight at me )

So how did you all fair , and did the no snow play a big part in your success or missed opertunities?

My season was about par. I think I saw more total deer this year. Tons of does which really surprises me with all the internet banter going on. I missed a nice 2.5 year 10 point in archery and passed on three easy shots on does with my flintlock. Rifle camp was bust. My kid woke up real sick opening morning so I stayed in camp for two days nursing him.[&o]

Took 5 does this season. About average but this is the first year in the last 6 that I didnt get a good buck in either PA or Ill. I did see my buck the very last morning from my stand. I hunted him all season and only saw him for the first time Saturday. He is an 8 pointer with 12" G-2s and very good mass. I put him at around 135-138". We had decided not to hit the woods till daybreak and just do some quick one man pushes in our bow only area and when I went in to post while my buddy pushed and this bruiser was under my tree. the good news is that he made it through the season alive. I can just imagine what he'll look like next year!

We did manage to each poke a doe though and then went on back and picked up my boys and my buddy's dad so we could push to them with the muzzy's. All three of them got shooting but not a hair was disturbed.

256 days till next bow season
