Default Jersey Bow This Weekend

Bow Hunting Jersey this weekend. First time out in a Winter season. I'll be in Zone 4 or 5. I know they leave a good deal of corn standing in the fields along the Delaware. Would you suggest hunting the edges of the corn fields? I know they are talking about some possible snow or ice Wed and Thurs. I am sure their patterns have changed since I was down there end of Nov. Since we won't get down until late Friday night and only can hunt Sat looking for suggestions.

I hunt zone 4 quite often...for small game in the area and do all of my shotgun hunting there which isnt much just 6 day firearm and the doe day but there are some deer around...last i saw there was standing corn along the deleware as you said but it seemed as though thhe deer were feeding during the nightime and were up on top of ridges or in thickets during the day..saw some does during the 6 day firearm as well as a bear n a bobcat...i caught them coming out of 1 extremely thick are into another...if you can find some thick patches of cover pretty decent in size that you think they might head off to during the day that are somewhat near the corn id say that wouldnt be a bad bet...make sure you are in a stand with the bow , the deer there seem extremely spooky....in my opinion on stateland in zone 4 its a gamble...ive patterned deer there and known their usual paths only to get out there all set up and watch them take a different route that i had never seen them use...good luck and let me know how you do...

In my 8 or 9 years of hunting zone 4 during the winter bow season it seems I would see more deer from my lower stand on the mountain then I would from my main stand deeper and higher on the mountain. The lower stand isnt on top of the corn, its about half mile from it. Matter of fact I will be hunting this lower stand for the 1st few weeks of the 2005 archery season, then once the rut starts, I will move to my main stand. I agree with NJ Deer, you can pattern these deer, and feel good about your set up and then have the deer walk 100yds from you.

Curious folks as of late has anyone seen any chasing etc.. or signs of a late rut in NJ. Here in NH late rut is way over. Any suggestions on calls for late season or is it pretty much a sit and wait.
