I use the API Grand Slame Supreme for the last 5yrs. and I love it. I also want a new climber for a back up, so I dont have to walk it over to my new spot, and I'm thinking of getting a Summit, what model not sure as of yet. I hear too many GREAT things about Summit, that I have to try them.

i used to love my api but after years of use it made to much noise. it had moving parts and those pins make alot of noise. now i have a summit bushmaster. Man i LOVE this stand. it faces away from the tree. There's no moving parts. it uses a cable with nut's covered with plastic as the support. I've had 4 portables as of yet and i see no way of me changing this one.

There are a lot of Summit lovers on this site, after owning one though I prefer the Ol'man line of climbers. I found they are more comfortable, easier to tote and assemble and more user friendly while hunting, especially bowhunting, in my experience with both. Don't get me wrong, Summit's a great stand but I like the Ol'man for the reasons I stated.

Had a loggy bayou for years... too noisy but very stable and easy to use

API for a year.... didnt like it , noist and not as stable as the loggy

Got a Grand Ol Man multi vision this year and love it! It's a bit heavy but very quiet, comfortable and stable

My vote would be for the Summit Viper X4 or the Classic Viper. The Classic Viper is the same stand but made of steel so it wieghs 5lbs more. The Viper X4 weighs 20 lbs and the Classic weighs 25 lbs. They are very comfortable and can sit in them all day and least I can. I am not even sure they make the Classic Viper anymore but if you find one they usually run around ~$170 and the X4 runs ~$230

Good luck

you may want to take a look at Loggy Bayou's new illusion stands. They have a cable feature instead of the chain like summits but they have a very quite locking system that is easy to use. They are also not badly priced.
