I hunt vermont hard and killed quite a few up there with my .270. Where in VT are you from?

Unless them VT deer are some thick skinned!!! .270 is more than adequate for deer. Practice makes perfect and a well placed shot is better than being overgunned any day of the week.

Good for them and PA deer, and NY deer and Ohio deer and Colorado elk and Quebec caribou and black bears and, well just about everything. Super flat shooter. I shoot in the same hole on a regular basis at 100 yards. Won't kill you too in the process, as far as recoil.
I love mine. I have a Rem 700 bdl. I shoot 130 gr. rounds. You can get 150 gr. if you want 'em. I like the 130 gr. Every deer I shot with it died on the spot or within a very few yards.
My Bro used it for groundhogs too. WOWEE!
