Default got a new treestand for christmas, got a question about it too

i got an ameristep climbing treestand for christmas , it's the basic model. it doesn't have a shooting rest bar so it should be good for bow season, it does have a full body fall arrest harness. and it's done up in camo finish.

now my question is , on the bottom of the seat frame and the foot rest frame it has serrated teeth ( not sharpened or blade style ) , which brace against the tree. is this legal for use in PA or NJ ???

ok , thanks.

what i'm thinking is cutting sections of garden hose to the proper length , then cutting them length wise up the middle and clamping them over the teeth.

i think that will work , any thoughts from anybody on that idea. the rubber should be a good grip surface on the bark , shouldn't it ???

Dont alter the treestand at all...If you did ever fall out GOD forbide you can lose in court if you sued, leave it the way it is.

The Pa law says it cant cut the cambium layer of bark. I believe the canbiumis the layer closest to the sapwood. In other words, iff you see wood after you climb, it aint PA legal. Some teeth dont penetrate deep enough and are ok but be careful on trees with thin bark.

you're legal in PA with it as it came out of the box. I use a similar set up and have been checked on gamelands before without any problems.

You are legal in pa.

As was previously pointed out, Pa just says you cannot penetrate cambium layer.

As long as you pick any tree that is thick barked like oak, hickory you would not be
in violation. A smooth barked tree like maple might not be a good choice, as its more prone to being scuffed up.

Its not really a big issue though, I know of no one who was cited for scuffing bark with your style climber. (mine too)
