I just heard that Lynn Swan (Steelers "74-"82) will be running for governor of PA in 2006. I don"t know anything about him except he was a good football player and that he"s running against Rendell.
Well, Rendell sucks so.....all I need to know is his stance on guns and hunting to easily sway my vote.
But he was an incredible receiver.....I used to love to watch him fly when I was a small boy but my favorite player was Jack Lambert during those years, a better LB you couldn't find.
I think Rendell only won 3 counties yet won the election. If Pittsburgh and Erie go for Swann, he could very well win. Does Lynn even know we hunt in PA? That is the question. I don't care for Rendell. Gambling to solve our fiscal probs..........HO HO HO! do you also believe in Santie Claus?
Don't buy that liberal's BS hogwash. Within 2 years our property taxes would be right back up to the same or more than before. If you want to look at the trash of Atlantic City....go to Atlantic City for goodness sake, don't import that garbage here......(sorry, I'm done now)
swan has spoken with several republican leaders re the race. he is testing the waters for a run.
rendell won the pittsburgh, lehigh valley, and philly clusters-about a dozen counties out of more than sixty. while that's not a lot of counties, it's where the bulk of PA's population is located.
on paper, swan's profile is potentially dangerous for rendell. high name recognition, with a western PA base that could hurt rendell in pittsburgh, and as an african american, he could hurt rendell in philly.
whether that is enough to overcome rendell's HUGE lead in fundraising, and the fact that the Governor's approval rating is pretty high, is an open question. the other open question is whether, as interesting as swan is on paper, he makes a compelling candidate in person. celebrity might be enough to get you elected in California, but PA voters tend to be a pretty savy lot.

By the way...Isn't 13 years enough with Cower??? He hasn't won a thing yet?????
In Cowher"s 12 seasons, the Steelers have captured seven division titles, earned eight postseason playoff berths, advanced to four AFC Championship games and made one Super Bowl appearance. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least seven division titles.
I know he hasn't brought home the Lombardi Trophy yet, but he's done pretty good.
BTW, how many Super Bowl rings do the Brownies have?
