Can anybody help me with this bear sign i found

I was scouting my area for deer last week and i stumbled upon a small tree that was snaped in half with claw marks goin down the side of it, and big pile of crap right next to it. I was just woundering if this is territory thing they do a mating sign or what. and if it would come back because i would like to fill out my bear tag this year.If anyone could help me i would gladly apprieciate it.

I'm sorry i wasn't really specific with my colomn my propertyis located in the catskills of sullivan county in the town of eastbranch ,they have boar in parts of P.A. I don't have boar by me and when i meant by a small tree i diidn't a sapling it was about six foot and was snaped from the middle with deep claw marks . But thank you for the reply.

I have similar marks in my property. I believe that it is the male bear marking his territory. If you look around you will also find big marks on pine trees (if you have any).
