Spent yesterday afternoon with fellow forum member Adams on his property for a bow hunt. After about an 1 and a 1/2 talk in the dark we parted ways. His land is about an hour from my house. 1/2 way home my phone rings and a few friends of mine were bow hunting about 45 minutes from where I was and they hit a big one and couldn't find it. They said they were looking until they found it. I stopped picked up a bigger flash light and headed over. I got there around 7PM and joined the search. After about an hour of slogging around through thick woods and the border of the swamp we found a large footprint. Half joking the guy who shot it said look bigfoot has walked through here. Low and behold about 12 feet away lay his trophy. It is a solid eight point and would have been a 9 but it was lacking one brow tine. The neck on this boy was all swollen and the tarsals were dark as the night we were searching in. He did not get a solid pass through. His arrow went in high about 3 inches away from the spine near the last rib due to the angle of the shot it went in and broke a hind quarter. Hence the reason it didn't go all the way. Took us a solid hour to drag him out back through all the blowdowns and thickets near the swamp. My guess is he will weigh in around 180 or more. It was to late by time we got him out at 9:30 to weigh him in anywhere. He shot it at 3PM.
