I hunted Wed. First from Sun up to 11:30am. Saw nothing. The farmer came to harvest the bean so I gave him a couple hours, then moved to a different stand on the same property for the evening hunt. The only problem was the weather man screwed up the wind forecast again and the wind blew SE instead of SW. By 4pm the wind died down, but it was my undoing. 10 of 4 I saw a 4pt and a doe approaching from the opposite farm. They hit the woods and headed NE away from my position. Tried grunting but no dice. At 4:25pm 2 does, one lg the other small came from the same farm but after screwing around the edge of the woods for a bit, headed my way. I was at the ready but at 45yds out the Big doe stopped and just stared my way. She didnt bound off, stomp her feet or anything, but she could tell something wasnt right. So she turned off and walked back the way she came. Thats the way it goes sometimes.
Well, I'm hanging up the bow for a bit to do some shotgun hunting. Friday looking wet and Saturday is looking windy. Weather was nasty last year too for the opening days and nothing was killed in our area. Will see what this year brings. Hell, if nobody does well for gun, that just means more left for me during the later Archery days.
If anyone else heads out with the bow, keep the posts coming. I'll start a shotgun thread this evening if someone doesnt beat me too it.
Take Care, hunt safe!
