Default What phase in PA?

I haven't had much time to hunt yet and was wondering what you are all seeing. I heard the bucks are sparring, but haven't heard anything about chasing yet. What have you been seeing? And when are you pulling out the doe estrous?

Lots of rubbing and scraping and sparring activity. I have yet to see any chasing though. Response to grunts have been so so, gets thier attention, but hasn't brought them in on a string, but some bucks it has brought in a little closer. I'll be busting out the estrous either next staruday or the following monday. Good luck.

yeah i've been seeing a lot of fresh scrapes and rubs. i coudn't tell you about the sparring because i think it's a blessing to see this going on, in other words i've only got to witness this a couple times my whole life. My wife and i go spotting about three times a week and all of the bucks i've seen have been alone or running with other bucks.

I had a couple of bucks sparring behind my house the other morning. I didn't see them but I could hear the light tapping of antlers!

I've been taking the little one (4 week old) for a ride at night to get him to sleep. Normally this is about 12:00am. The bucks that I have been seeing in a few fields around my way have been by themselves. There were a few doe in the vicinity, but the Bucks seemed more interested in feeding than chasing. I did see one however last night cross the road slowly behind a doe with his nose to the ground.

I'm sure it's right around the corner for sure. The last weekend in October has always been a real good time for me to see deer moving throughout the daytime.

Where we are in Susquehanna Cty it has been REAL slow, lot of rubs and scrapes starting to appear but very few deer sightings. My partner took a 8 pt 2 weeks ago and when he did it came in with another 8 pt and they were pushing one another around.

Bowhunting World mag has an article in the Nov issues and they perdict a early and intense rut this year. They say they expect the peak to occur bewtween Oct 29 and Nov 7. They also say that if temps are above 45 and clear weather the rut becomes more nocturnal with less daytime activity.

The first week of the season there was very little activity in may regular area. My son in law took me to his spot that is about an air mile away. The woods were all tore up. Scrapes, rubs and movement almost all day long. The only reason that I can come up with is that his area has a better buck to doe ratio. We are in to week 3 and my area is just starting to get active. Think I'll hunt with the kid. Seems he found a honey hole.

Watched a 6 point chasing two does all over the edges of the corn field today. They sounded like horses galloping around.
Also, tons of rubs and numerous scrapes are showing up...
