Default PA deer season

I don't know about anyone else who is hunting PA this bow season but the number of deer sightings are WAY down so far. By this time last year I had seen 15 different bucks and I don't know how many does. I am hunting out of the same deer stands and have seen 6 does and 0 , thats right zero bucks so far.

I have notice quite a few, in fact, a lot of rubs and 1 scrape already. The rubs are popping up everywhere. I had a mature does come in on Saturday morn and would have taken her but offerred no shot. The strange thing is she was alone. Where were her fawns?[/i] Did she boot them away becuz she is ready to bred? I have rerad that the rut will be early this year in PA and I'm starting to think that is the case.

How about you, seeing a lot of deer? Any thoughts on early rut?

well i have seen 4 different buck and a bucha doe and fawns! the fawns are outta control this year , there is a whole sh*t pile of them around!

All the bucks i have seen i passed , even being a JR hunter i still think they need a year or so atleast , and yes i have seen alot of chasing already , even saw a 5 pt chasing 2 buttons the other night ! but i see alota rubs , a scrape or 2 , and a good bit of chasing from these lil guys , so it could be starting up soon!

Well ok, here's a good example of the differences in deer herd distribution. All the guys in the western part of our state don't know what or why the rest of us are complaining about. They regularly see tons of deer (see another post about some guy bragging about killing 50 doe in 10 years).
I've seen a few does, 1 - 6ptr, 1 spike. I have found a few scrapes. There is a lot of acorns on ground so maybe deer are not moving far for food. I think what bucks are left will be more active this season due to lack of does.

I wish I knew where some of you western PA guys are hunting, because down here in Fayette and Greene counties the big talk has been that no one is seeing any deer. So far this season I have seen only 2 deer. One was a nice 4 point buck, but that has been it. Last year at this time I had seen about 10 deer. I know that areas change from year to year, but I am hearing from alot of people that hunt that they aren't seeing any deer. I hope things pickup when the rut starts.

[&o]Bowtech, I live in N.W. Pa and have 200+ acres of private land that I've hunted for years. I hunt "every" morning before work and 3 evenings per week. I've had "ONE" deer in to my stand this entire year!. Now I've hunted since 1966 and have killed more than 50 whitetails but this season has been amazing from a deer standpoint. The one deer that did come in made it to 18 yds. before going behind brush and was the largest buck I've ever had in but he's the only deer this season. I don't hunt where there's fields and I know if I set a stand near the clover fields I'd see some deer every night but I'm trying to wait out the rut and get some of the good buck running the doe. Hang in there. The difference between a slow season and one that ends great is about a 5 minute span while hunting.

no....... there are twice as many deer in pa as the habitat can support guys. Tons of them in every wmu and they need to be reduced. Check your wmu chart on the pgc web page and see what your Deer density goal is and what the pgc estimates the herd size in your wmu at....

Lots of deer everywhere, my wmu goal is lower than the state goal of 13, its at 11. And the PGC says we are at 20 dpm so we have got to kill a whole bunch more off to get down to the eco friendly goal.

If you think you are seeing less now.......wait till after this season with its 1,040,000 doe tags.

You ain't seen nothing yet.....
