Default hints on rattling

id like to start rattling but i dont know when and how. I live in southern Indiana. I know its beter when the buck to doe ratio is close and i know you should do it for at least a couple of min. But can i start now? its mid october and the rut is around the first of nov.

any hints?

Early ratteling,you wanna simulate 2 bucks sparring.Nothing rough just tickle the horns for about 30-45 sec,followed by a couple conntact grunts.Always worked for me
