Default Finally saw some deer.

I was out last night and finally had a buck and a doe come in right under my stand. Too bad he was only 4 months old and maybe 40 pounds. Either way it was a successful hunt just being able to watch them browse for 10 minutes. I don't think that there's another sport in which you can come back without doing what you set out to do and still consider it successful.

Yea, I never was one for tree rats. I always ignore noises because I think it's a squirrel only to turn around and see a deer standing 20 yards from me.

bearlr,

It is always nice to hear from someone who is honest. I have hunted with people who exaggerated and outright lied about what they saw/did. There's nothing worse than not being able to rely on information from a habitual liar. Congratulations on seeing your first deer. But even when you didn't, you did better than me. I haven't been out at all yet. Two toddlers and a wife on seemingly perpetual PMS is as effective in keeping me from hunting as a ball and chain!

To me a successful hunt is just being out there,If I don't see a deer or Tag a deer it's just one day closer to the day I will....Good Hunting everyone.

Very true and good point. I would say golf is up there. I set out to make every shot I take. Obviously this doesn't happen, but still have succesful rounds Just seeing deer does it for me too. That's what I consider a succesful hunt IMO. Actually just being in the woods does it for me.

Saw a legally antlerless spike last night. 10 yards, broadside.....thought about it....then morality hit and I felt bad for even thinking about whacking him.
