Default NJ Opening Archery Day Results

All I saw was deer and bear tracks in the mud, squirrels, a hawk, a turkey feather, and a spider. There are buck rubs all around my stand...and a really nice scrape 20 yrds. from my stand (I did not get anywhere near it....its just so damn glaring from my stand!). Oh well...it was still fun to be outside hunting in the beautiful woods of New Jersey.

I kicked a single deer out while walking in at 5 AM (about 175 yrds. away from my treestand destination). I was all settled in my stand by 5:30 AM.

I did not hunt Mountain Lakes today.

All I saw was the same old lousy 8 pt that keeps hanging around my stand. Gots to get a doe first.[&o] Maybe I should switch zones and head up to 4.

I would have stayed "dark til dark" however I had a family party to go to.

My friend Chuck bagged a nice (not huge) 8 pointer in PA (5D) with a crossbow. My aunt Karen did not see anything all day...and she hunted dark til dark in 5D.

Oh well...off to the Phillies game today. (I might leave early to watch the Eagles).

Still have no Doe, but I had a nice size 4 pointer 10yrs from me.. Called him in from 30yrs of thick brush. I was hunting a new spot (kinda) that I know have really big body Bucks.. Saw 5 different 8 point bucks last year on the priv land I hunt. BUT IT STILL FELT LIKE OPENING DAY FOR ME. I hunt in zone 8 we had ours opener on Sept 11, Happy HUnting Everyone.

I was doing some light ratteling as the sun came up and had a nice spike come into me,he was looking around for 10 min,I hunt in a 3 pt zone so he walked, son had a 300 lb black bear 10 yds from his stand.about 9 am i had a big gobbler and 10 hens come up the mountain, they stopped 20 yds from my stand and they started clucking and gobbeling and called in 8 more hens and 2 more gobblers from the otherside of the gulley. Then the gobbelers started fighting, wings flapping bodies bumping, all the hens around them, besides seeing bucks fighting, that was the coolest thing,i saw in the woods.the Turkey brawl lasted about 5 min, then they went two different ways, got a kick out of watching the winner strut away,he looked proud, all puffed up displaying his domanince. Now if it were Turkey i was Hunting yesterday,Bet i would have saw 10 racked bucks. It was a great day cant wait till fri and sat, every week gets better
