Default ny tags

from what I have heard you must remove the tags from your back tag and remove the licence AND keep them both seperate from the back tag or face a fine ! has anyone else heard of this ? I've always kept my deer tags in my back tag holder now if I get caught doing this I'm in trouble
Sounds like NYS wants more money to me

I can understand keeping the actual license seperat but my problem is with the deer/bear /turkey tags almost everyone I know always kept them together in the holder for the back tag

Seems kinda stupid to me. I'v always kept them together so as to be sure got everything I need to have. I dont have my NY lcense yet for 04 but I'll sure be reading it when I do.

Does anybody know this is a fact? Like from the rules and regulations book?

Still wondering - verifiable fact or another rumor to excite everyone?

I can tell you this is true, from experience. What exactly the law is I don't know w/o looking it up. I always used to carry all my tags in my back tag holder. Seemed natural to keep them all together. Until 1 day upon returning home from hunting, my backtag was missing from the back of my coat! Somehow it had come unpinned, and unsafety pinned. I looked for it with no luck. I went to the same place that issued me the license, and he said no problem I'll just reissue you another back tag #. I said no I mean I need all the tags. I lost everything. He told me your suppose to keep them separated from your actual bag tag # for that reason, and there was nothing he could do to re-issue me more tags. It was almost the end of the seasoon, so I said heck with it. But I no longer carry mine together, and you'd all be wise to do the same!!!
