Do it urself Black Bear rifle in Adirondacks??

Looking for a hunter or 2 interested in planning a mid october black bear hunt w/ rifle or any info or help from people from the area or who have done it or hunted bear there before.I bowhunt whitetails in Utica,NY and want to venture north for 3-4 days while Im there.Open to suggestions.I was inOld Forge twice within last month and a half and saw 2 bear without even trying.I have good whitetail hunting just south of utica and would consider a swap type setup with a hunter in the ADK for bear

Bear hunting in ADK. is a tough game if you follow the rules,baiting is not legal in NY. There are alot of bears within the Blueline but there is alot of thick mountainous forest for them to hide in to. With that said, last season 2003, was an all-time record for NY's bear kill. By far the greatest number was taken in the Adirondacks. I might be interested in a 3-4 day swap in the Long Lake/Tupper Lake region. I was a licensed guide in that area for a number of years and know the area very well. I have been scouting for the early bear season, which opens in mid-September, all summer and know where travel corridors are. I had'nt planned to hunt bear in October as it conflicts with my duck/goose hunting but maybe we could work something out? Drop me a note if you're interested.

thanks emluar,i would like to discuss some things with you.thinking of hunting out of a small camper,can u camp and hunt anywhere on state land or do u have to be in a campground?ill get in touch with u when i have a few more minutesThanks Matt
