September 15th has historically been opening day, at least for the past few years. Not sure why they don't adjust the date to coincide with the second Saturday of the month? This past year the opener was on a Monday and this year the 15th starts on a Wednesday!
historically, yes, md starts on Sept. 15th. But DNR has some proposals on the table which should be approved/disproved any day now. One of these proposals would bring in the bow season on Sept. 1 - Jan. 15th. We should know any day now.
If I'm not mistaken the 1 Sept - 15 Jan proposal was withdrawn by DNR, but I could be wrong. Think I read that either on a forum post or MSA newsletter... Guess we'll know for sure in a few days.
