Default If Gary Alt managed our trout stocking program....

....what do you think would happen?

I posted this simply to provide some humor to a controversial topic. Please, lets hear some humorous responses....from both sides of the fence.

You'd be ony catching females and returning the males, only if they had enough spots and over 20 inches you could keep them.

Also, there would be no fishing on Sunday, you could only get 1 fish per season, per liscense. If you catch and return it, than dies, you would be charged. Also, there would be a seperate season for fly fishing, using live bait, spinners, and lures. You would have only 2 weeks per season. Ice fishing is too dangerous and is cancelled.

Just my take and for fun....

Good one guys. Keep it up.

I think we would see bass season starting roughly a week or two after trout season...

....and you would need to apply for individual tags for every fish you catch.

Ofcourse, the number of posted creeks running through private land would also increase....

1. 250 square inches of flor orange when trout and bass season overlap or when walking from one spot to the next. Once in position, you can remove your orange but it recommended to keep it visible in 360 degrees.

2. Overall fish density per A.S.M. (aquatic square mile) would be determined. Those fish managment units that are above the recommended density would receive additional fishing allocations.

3. Mandatory check stations.

I heard the PFBC started stocking pike in all the trout streams becaues thefishermen couldn't catch them out fast enough.

There's even been rumors of barracuda swimming in certain waters in central PA.

Juniors would get special early seasons to fish using M-80's. Afterall if a kid can't have fun dynamiting a hole and scooping up fish, they will go play PS2 and be lost forever to the outdoor community.

What is the M:F ratio on stocked trout? Does it apply to all three species? How many Over Winter Stocked Trout(OWST) are sustainable? What is the recruitment rate? Mortality Rate?

So many questons, so few answers![8D]

Fin restrictions would be instituted on all male trout.

1 female trout could be harvested with the appropriate "ROE"
tag

Landowners would have to apply for TMAP coupons for the Trout management assistance plan to control numbers on private streams.

Soon we'd have groups lobbying to institute C-RAP (Carp Restoration Assistance Plan) because carp fisherman with crossbows will have em just about wiped out.

Of course the TDPP (trout densiy per pool) would need to drop.

Trout unlimited would be handing Pa all kind of awards for our management program and and the Pope and Young club would begin training trout scorers for the new wave of "Book Trout" expected after the first year or two.

Oh, and Larry, Darryl and Darryl would take up Bluegill fishin!!!!

Thier would be an early fly rod season for brookies, followed by an any method season for brookies, browns and rainbows. Folks would be allowed to keep one fish every other day, but even that would be tough as stream densitities would be so lo it would be hard to catch one fish every other day let alone one that is big enough to meet the 28 inch minimum size requirements. And of course ole DD would be tellin us how fish are managed in Mississippi, Michagen and Wisconsin and that since Alt took over the trout management program the fish don't seem as wet as they used to be when you took them out of the water! On the other hand Acid rain really would be an issue!! Juniorpc.
