Default Tic in PA

I gotta question about tics. I've been starting on taxidermy and about a month ago I got 2 foxes and a coon. I brought them home and skinned them in the basement. They have been in the freezer since till I can tan them. Just tonight my mom found 2 tics on our dog. I was wondering if these itcs could come from my critters or if they won't even come off of an animal once they are on even if the animal dies. Now she is telling me I cant bring anymore dead animals into the house. I tried telling her the dog probably got the tics from outside since it had been warmer out the last 2 days. Thanks for any info.

I have been out quite a bit since the warm weather arrived in PA and have not had a single one on me. However, I think it is entirely possible.

I am going to bump this over to the Northeast Regional forum where you are more likely to get responses.
