I guess they continue to rework the system. I have a friend who is a Registered Maine guide in Wilton, Maine and has applied every year since the onset and has yet to get lucky.

Some people will get it their first try and continue to get it year after year. With the exception on the law that says if you get a permit you must wait another 2 years to get a permit. You can still be the subpermittie which allows you to shoot a moose. Others like me seem to find the moose permit to be a figment of the imagination.

If you can get a permit you are almost gaurnteed to fill it if you are willing to take atleast one weekend before season to scout them, as big as they are you cant really miss them to easly.

Been trying here in Maine for over 12 years, not been lucky yet.

HOWEVER, both my son and I got a turkey permit this year. Not bad for him especially, he just turned 10, so this is the first year he could try.
