Default New York Pistol Permit holders

I don't like what Governor Pataki is trying to do to pistol permit holders in New York State.
He is proposing some very high fees on permit holders.
Permits would have to be renewed and the fees would be charged with each renewal.
He is also proposing to lift the cap on what individual counties can charge for the permits.
Pistol permits will soon become very expensive in New York if something is not done.

Below is a generic letter I have drafted to Pataki.
If you agree with me, copy/paste it into your word processor, then make a copy and send it to Pataki.
It can't be any easier than that...if you NY residents don't do it...you will pay! Also, call him at: (518) 455-5797

Clint

Governor George Pataki:
State Capitol, Executive Chambers,
Albany, N.Y., 12224.

Dear Governor Pataki,

I am a resident of New York State. In the past, I have voted for Republicans in New York.

I am writing to inform you of my displeasure over your
proposed pistol permit fees. If these fees are enacted, I am through giving my support to Republicans in New York, and to you in particular. I will not support a political party that works against my interests.

Sir, I suggest that you find other ways to raise money in New York....ways that impact all citizens...not just a few. Better yet, I suggest that all of you in State government find ways to SAVE money in New York!

Sincerely,

You are absolutley right Clint! The governors' fee proposal goes well beyond raising fees/taxes to meet the state's budget needs. This is an attack on the second ammendment rights of every New Yorker. The proposed fee/tax increases are so extreme that they can only be viewed as confiscatory.
I too have been a registered Republican my entire adult life. Unfortunately, there no longer is a difference between Republican and Democrat in New York state. I have changed my party affiliation to the
Conservative party.
By the way, good letter.

I don't have a pistol permit but will join the cause and send him your letter. I changed from a Republican to "not affilliated with any party" because they refuse to cut the fat from above.
