Default My first trip to Cabelas in PA!!!!

What can i say....Holy Sh**! I went over to the Hamberg PA store yesterday. That place is incredible. That whitetail display is awesome. Ive been to the Bass Pro in Dallas a couple of times but the Whitetail display is tops. I spent the day there and still didn't see everything.

I was looking for a couple of things but they didn't have them in the store. I was disappointed by that but i will order them from the Cabelas website.

i live right off Sanatorium up by the "Y" split to go to the hospital. I wish i could hunt that property behind the house. The hospital patrols it. I have deer, turkeys and bear around the house all the time. I've been hunting over at Ken Lockwood Gorge and it's been good. I just hate climbing that mountain.

It is an impressive place, is it not? I have been there over a dozen times so far and it never gets old. Just out of curiousity, what were you looking for that you did not find?

I went down during the grand opening and was specifically looking for (among other things) the "behind the seat gun rack". They no have and I was amazed (and a bit upset). After looking for quite awhile I asked and the rep told me they "decided not to stock that item"?? Oh, well, I got it for x-mas. still and awesome place. Going back in a couple weeks.

Woj if you couldn't find something at Cabelas, you need to ask someone in the store. They keep a full stock in the back and will pull it for you if you can't find it on the floor. If they still don't have it. There policy is to ship it to you free of shipping charges

Strange, I've been working here at the Cabelas Kanas City Store for almost 2 years, and we carry the behind the seat gun racks here at the store. The Auto-ATV department usually carries them. But even with a store the size of Hamburg they still will only carry around 60% of the items that are carry in all of the Cabelas catalogs. And if they don't have it at the store we can usually get it pretty quick to the store. The only time Cabelas will ship for free is when we make a mistake, by saying its here, but isn't.

I went up there on Sat Jan 3rd with wife and daughter. A very impressive operation. The place was packed! You could barely move around the store.

The wildlife and fishery exhibits were awesome. I can't imagine a more extensive display of whitetail/mule deer than they had up there. I've been to Outdoor World in Texas and N. Carolina in 2001. They had less wildlife and more merchandise in the way of boats, marine supplies etc. than Cabelas.

I'd go up there every month if it were closer (about 3 1/2 hr drive for me in lower Delaware).

No now the gorge is a trophy trout stream. you can use fly or spinning gear but NO bait. Only artificials. You are only allowed oto keep ne trout that has to be 16" i think. But i throw everything back.
