http://www.mcall.com/sports/all-blackbearjan07.story

Go the link and read it. It was shot illegally. This guy even had his picture in the paper and was all smiles.

Apparently he didn't have much respect for the law. If he gets nailed for it, so much the better.

I hope he gets as big a fine as they can give him. Can you imagine how big that bear would have been next year! Some people just don't give a S#!*

[X(] I hate reading stories about jerks doing all kinds of illegal hunting and then having it splashed all over the local fish wrapper. We need to convince some of the small town rags to print more pictures of dads or moms posing with their sons or daughters with their LEGAL KILLS.

Brian, the heaviest bear from PA shot this year weighed in at 864lb.

Number 2 was 837lb, followed by the bear in question at 808.

I read the original story in the Morning Call back in December and I have to admit that I thought the story sounded a little fishy at the time. Who the heck just buys a bear license "hours before" they walk up on a bear that is bigger than 99% of what is out there in Pennsylvania?

On the other hand, I really need to start getting the morning call for the full week instead of just Thursday through Sunday. I miss out on too much...

This 808lb bear tied for 59th place in the state? That means there are 58 bears that were bigger? We got some big bears in PA!!! I know that means skull size and not weight, but either way, there are some big suckers out there.

My daughter and I seen that bear alive this summer near my house. we were on the atv and seen him cross woods road in front of us, I pulled up to where he crossed and he was standing about 20 yds away, My daughter put het arms around me from behind and said "dad I don't like him" He just looked and started to climb the hill away from us .. For my daughter to be scard will tell you the size of him as we see quite a few bears a year .. Without saying that was the biggest bear I ever seen. I looked for him during the season and never seen him again ..Bill

Are these standard Black Bears?? Occasionally in Wisconsin we hear of 600 pounders being taken but I don't recall ever hearing about one in that size class. WOW!
