i live in warren county pennsylvania in the tiny town of tidioute. it's about halfway between titusville and warren (about 20 min drive each way). we have a so called sportmans club that i used to belong to. it amounts to this:
a shooting range that you have to wait hours upon end to use
a trap shoot that is only used by the leagues ( a few selected members)
older guys run the whole show and the meetings are more of a dictatorship rather than a democracy. the reason why i left the club is because i wanted to get the kids more involved in hunting and the outdoors. they welcome junior members (for their money) but the memberships are just a title. i brought it up at a meeting that i think that we should start taking kids out in the woods and showing them different different sign and different aspects of nature. these guys didn't want any part of it.
so what i want to do is start a NEW but different outdoor club. more on the lines of hunting. a place where people can come and share their passion for the outdoors and their children and wives would be welcome to join in. a club that focused on hunting and fishing.......a place where you always have a buddy to hunt with. i even have some goals that i would like to accomplish.
the ultimate goal would be to purchase land, build a lodge on it (which i am a general contractor that would volunteer my time), and do some QDM.
have any of you ever done this or have thought of it?? where do i start??
been there tried that, it all fell through bcuz there was only 2 of us trying to get the ball rollin, what a pain and not enough time in my day. We would be willing to try it again if we could get the guys off there ass.
