Default DE Red Fox Season

I was bored today so I was reading the DE Hunting Regs for the umpteenth time and I've always wondered what was up with the having a Fox Season when its its NOT legal to have a Fox or Fox hide in possession for any reason? Now I dont kill animals I cant eat, but if I was the type that wanted to mount one or maybe make a nice Fox Fur scarf or something, I've had numerous chances to take one during Bow Season. I can imagine farmers who get their chickens killed by Foxes consider them pests. But I cant understand having a season on an animal when all your allowed to do is shoot it and leave it lay to rot in the field.

Any thoughts?

Scott if you were a rabbit hunter or a quail hunter you would understand that law. A lot of effort went into getting that law passed. I like deer hunting but my passion is rabbit hunting, started doing that when I was 10 years old. Got off the school bus , changed clothes and got the dogs and went to the woods, no game is any better eating than rabbit.... KILL ALL THE FOXES YOU CAN, THANKS, Ron

Ron,

Good point! Didnt even think of it that way. I think you should be at least able to take them home though if you wished. Maybe get some use out of them.

My Grandfather used to always say we should shoot wild cats whenever we had a chance. They reak havoc on the rabbits and quail too. Do you think we'll ever get an open season on them?

Scott

to funny. i just explained this to a guy from NJ. u are right about the population and all of that. there are other aspects of the law that they consider. imagine everyone out there trying to profit from the killing of foxes??? trapping them would cause a problem too. there are a ton of them out there and i have seen them cross a corn field.....the long way. they come to bait piles too hey, cap 'em and leave them if u are into that.

hey, where can i get on turkeys in the spring
